Portrait Parties!

I’d forgotten how much fun these are! I don’t do a lot of them until the holiday season starts getting close, so I forget what I like about them. I love the fun atmosphere of when a group of friends and families get together. I love the work in it. That sounds really weird, especially because when I’m done I feel like I’ve run a marathon, but I love the pace of it. Shooting is my absolute FAVORITE part of being a photographer (trust me, there’s a LOT more to it than just snapping pics!) and in a portrait party setting where you spend a few hours with several different families and kids, it’s just a rush!

I really think that everyone involved loves the parties, too! The kids pick up on the fun atmosphere. Parents love that it’s a quick, inexpensive session and that there is usually food involved. And the person who hosts it loves it because they get some great freebies and credits towards their own photos!

I just finished my first portrait party of the season. I’m actually uploading the photos to my computer now. It was a blast and I can’t wait to share some of my favorites with you!

Is it October already?

How on earth did that happen? I’m still waiting for summer, so how did it get to be this late in the year? It’s even more depressing when you go to work and see pallets full of Christmas trees and ornaments in the back room. UGH!!!

It shouldn’t surprise me so much. I’ve been encouraging people to get in for Christmas photos since August. And now that it’s October, it’s even more important to start thinking about it. My schedule is starting to fill up, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead a bit.

Other than my disbelief in the lateness of the year, there’s not much to say. I’m finally healing up from having the wisdom teeth removed. Oh it feels so good not to be in pain. :-)

Everyone enjoy the few nice fall days we have left! It will snow before too long.
